Good news on the job front for the City of Derry with 70 new cyber security jobs created.

MetaCompliance is a cyber security firm that develops software to protect companies from cyber attacks is to invest £4.5m into an investment strategy that will seek to expand its business into new markets in the US and Europe.

The investment will generate 70 new cyber jobs in Derry City.

Chief Executive Robert O’Brien said: “We have seen a rapid global increase in the demand of cyber-security products and services, particularly since GDPR has been implemented.”

Invest Northern Ireland has offered £695,000 of support towards the new roles.

Mr O’Brien said InvestNI’s support “has been fundamental to our continued growth” to match the demand for cyber security products.

It is likely that the firm will also receive support from other Northern Irish Government departments who have been subsidising companies with the talent acquisition through various software apprenticeships programmes in recent years.
